Description

An 18th-century byre with a tallet (a loft above the byre) and a wash house, rebuilt in the 18th century and raised in height during the 19th century. The wash house itself is of the 19th century. The building is constructed of coursed squared and dressed limestone with a limestone slate roof and limestone gable coping, including an ashlar stack. It has an "L" shaped plan, with a rectangular main body and the wash house projecting forwards to the far left.

The farmyard front features a byre with a loft above, and the single-storey wash house. The byre has two two-light windows with large wooden lintels, and single-width entrances to the left of each window. Above the left-hand door is another two-light window. Stone steps lead up to the loft on the right gable end. An early two-light window, now blocked, is formed from a single, unfinished limestone block in the left gable end. The wash house has a central plank door with a single light to the right.

Inside the wash house, a washing copper remains in situ. The wash house has flat gable coping with roll-cross saddles. The building is listed for its group value.
