Description
The Village Stores and Post Office is a house that has been adapted to include a village shop, dating from around 1850. It is constructed of coursed rubble limestone, featuring dressed stone surrounds for the windows and doorways. The building has dressed gable parapets with roll-moulded saddles and a stone slate roof. It is two storeys high, with a single-storey wing that now serves as the shop.
The cross-wing has a full gable that faces the road and includes a canted bay window with a hipped roof, along with a casement window above. There are two small attic gables on the east side, each with a small attic window. An off-centre porch features a parapet gable and a chamfered doorway with a four-centred arch. The building has two ashlar chimneys, one with paired shafts and another with a single shaft, all topped with very thick caps. The shop doorway has a chamfered surround and a small window to the right. Most windows, except for the shop window to the left of the door, have diagonal leaded casements. A ball finial adorns the end gable of the single-storey wing.
