Description
The Hobbs and Lambert Monument, located about 5 meters south of the second aisle window from the east in the churchyard of the Church of St. Lawrence, consists of two chest tombs. The tomb for Mary Ann Hobbs dates from the early to mid-19th century, while the tomb for Ann Lambert commemorates her death in 1774. Both tombs are made of limestone. The Hobbs tomb features a moulded plinth and capping with a plain frieze, a four-stepped tent top with curved edges that is badly eroded, quarter baluster corners, plain recessed ends, and slightly fielded sides with narrow fluted strips on either side. The Lambert tomb has a plain plinth and moulded capping, with slab ends and sides that lack mouldings. The southeast corner of the Lambert tomb's top is cracked and was partially overgrown at the time of the survey in March 1985.
