Description

The Ormond at Tetbury is an inn dating from the early 19th century. It features painted roughcast with stone dressings, a cornice, and a blocking course, topped with a slate roof and three tall stepped brick stacks. The front range includes a carriage arch located to the right of center, with long stabling ranges extending to the rear on both the left and right sides.

The building stands two stories high with an attic and has four windows, which are twelve-pane sashes set within moulded stone architraves. These windows have sill brackets, a cornice, plain aprons, and interlocking tracery in the upper panes. There are also four large gabled dormers that feature wooden pilasters, open pediments, and Y tracery in the upper halves of the sashes. On the ground floor, three pairs of plate glass sashes with cambered heads and sill brackets are present. A stone string course runs below the first-floor aprons, complemented by wide stone pilaster strips.

The carriage arch, positioned right of center, provides access to the entrances of each range inside the arch, which are marked by a wrought iron lamp bracket above and two boarded doors that curve down to the center, topped with iron spikes. The inn was previously known as 'The Ormond Head', and records indicate that an inn has existed on this site since the late 17th century.
