Description
No 14 Long Street is a large town house dating from the early to mid 18th century. It is rendered on a stone plinth and features a concrete tile roof with a small hip to the right and a large ashlar end stack also to the right. The building has a moulded stone cornice and blocking course, with wide vertical bands and stone string courses at the first and second floor levels. It stands three storeys tall and has five windows, which are 12-pane sashes set in plain reveals.
On the ground floor, there are two similar (renewed) windows to the right, and a central stone doorcase flanked by attached Doric columns on bases, with a frieze, cornice, and pediment above. Access to the large door, which has eight flush panels, is via three stone steps. To the left of the entrance, there is a 20th-century shop front. The interior is reported to contain a very fine stick baluster stair, similar to that found at No. 33 Long Street, although it was not accessible during the survey.
