Description
The stables at Ablington Manor, located adjoining and to the north-east of Stable Cottage, were built in 1860 and have undergone 20th-century restoration and alterations. Constructed from coursed rubble limestone with ashlar dressings, the building features a stone slate roof. It consists of a long range oriented north to south, with a lower return wing at the south end. The west front includes three large openings suitable for garage doors and two-light mullioned casements. There is a central loft dormer with a plank door. The ends of the building are gabled with parapets, and the northern end features a finial and a datestone reading 'R.R.C./ 1860', likely referring to Richard Rogers Coxwell. Inside, there are 20th-century stable fittings. The stables are included for their group value with the nearby structures.
