Description

This listing describes a group of three monuments located in the churchyard approximately 2 meters south of the Church of St. Mary.

The first monument, a tall chest tomb dated 1706, is made of limestone and features gadrooned corner balusters. It has an urn at the west end and a mutilated cartouche at the east. The south side showcases a large Rococo cartouche, while the north side has an inscription panel with square projections at the corners. The tomb has a cyma moulded top and base and is inscribed on the north side to Pauncefoot Miller, who died in 1706.

The second monument is a pedestal tomb dated 1751, also made of limestone. It is rectangular in shape with moulded ends that have paterae in the frieze. The west end features a hooded mourner with a broken oak and skull, while the east end has a winged figure of death holding an hour-glass over an urn. The ends are finely carved, and the south side has a large and delicately carved Rococo cartouche with two cherub's heads in the upper spandrels. The north side contains an inscription shield on swag backing, but the inscription is illegible. The tomb has a cyma moulded top and hollow mouldings above a low base plinth.

The third monument is a chest tomb from the mid to late 17th century, made of limestone. It has lyre ends, a cartouche at the west end, and a bold oval wreath at the east. The north side features a rectangular moulded inscription panel flanked by scrolls, while the south side has a similar panel but with a mutilated niche to the right. The tomb has a cavetto moulded top and a cyma moulded base, but the inscriptions are illegible.
