Description
Lasborough Manor is a former manor house and farmhouse, now a detached private house, dating from around 1610 and originally commissioned for Sir Thomas Estcourt. The building is constructed from random coursed rubble stone with flush quoins, and has a stone slate roof. It features scattered stone stacks, including a large, partially external stack on the north front, and a new stack on the restored south-west range. The house is arranged in an uneven U-shape, with the base of the U comprising two sections with differing roof lines, and a projecting two-storey porch on the north front. Generally, the building is two storeys and has an attic. The windows are predominantly stone mullion and transom windows to the first floor, with stone mullions to the ground floor. The attic windows vary, and all feature hollow-moulded jambs, square hoodmoulds, and leaded lights. The north front’s porch has a wide, four-centred archway adorned with spandrel mouchettes and a square hoodmould, displaying a coat of arms and two single-light windows above a renewed inner door. The west side incorporates a three-storey, canted bay with six lights, including a basement level, located at the north end. The east side features a large central gable and a 19th-century gable added to a previously set-back section on the right. The south front has been restored in a sympathetic style. The main chamber on the first floor, to the north-west, contains a contemporary stone fireplace enriched with the Estcourt family heraldry. The interior has not been inspected, but is believed to contain additional stone fireplaces and is likely to be of interest.
