Description
The Church of St Mary is a small Anglican church with medieval origins, completely rebuilt between 1861 and 1862 by architect Lewis Vulliamy. It is constructed of coursed stone and features stepped diagonal buttresses, a stone slate roof with coped verges and kneelers, a cross finial at the east end, and a bellcote with a bell at the west. The church consists of a nave and chancel, a south porch, and a small north vestry with a stone stack. The nave has four bays with arch-braced queen posts in an elaborate design, while the chancel has three bays and includes two-light Geometric windows, as well as three-light windows at the east and west ends. The south porch features a moulded pointed archway, cross squints, and stone seats on both sides. The interior contains mostly 19th-century fittings, along with an older altar rail and a possibly Norman plain font.
