Description
The building is a former Baptist Chapel located behind No. 11 Church Street, dating from 1779. It is constructed of coursed rubble stone with quoins and has a hipped Cotswold stone slate roof, which originally featured a circular domed skylight that has since been removed. The chapel is a square structure with two storeys.
The main northeast front displays three round-headed windows with stone voussoirs and enlarged keystones, each containing two leaded pointed lights. There are also two six-panel doors with enriched semi-circular fanlights and moulded wood architraves. The west wall features two large full-height windows that match the style of the main front but lack the leaded glass.
Inside, the chapel retains a panelled gallery, a preaching box, and walls. The gallery runs along the back and left side in an L-shape. Stone steps lead down to an immersion bath located in front of the preaching box. At the time of the survey in October 1984, the chapel was empty.
