Description
The boundary wall with gatepiers to the north of Ablington Manor dates from the 18th century and underwent early 20th-century restoration. It is constructed from random rubble limestone, with ashlar piers and dressed coping. The large square gatepiers on the left feature moulded caps and large ball finials set on torus moulded bases, and there are plank timber gates. The wall has weathered coping and includes a square-headed doorway to the right, as well as a pointed arched doorway with a plank door. An early 20th-century photograph indicates that the gateway was originally positioned opposite the porch of Ablington Manor. The linking wall extends to the south, connecting with Ablington Manor and includes another set of gatepiers similar to those in the main wall.
