Description
The range of outbuildings located approximately 10 meters northwest of Turkdean Manor dates from the late 18th century and includes a former open-fronted store with a loft, an open-fronted store, and a probable former wash house. The former open-fronted store is constructed of coursed squared and dressed limestone, while the wash house is made of limestone rubble, both featuring stone slate roofs.
This long rectangular range consists of an open-fronted store with a loft on the right, which is connected to the former wash house by a single-storey open-fronted store. The open-fronted store has five formerly open basket-headed bays on the side facing away from Turkdean Manor. Two of these bays have garage doors, while the remaining bays are now blocked, with reused two-light double-chamfered stone-mullioned casements with stopped hoods inserted into the blocking. Access to the first floor of the former open-fronted store is via two flights of stone steps leading to a 19th to 20th-century part-glazed stable door beneath a basket-headed surround. There are also two-light stone-mullioned casements high up in the left and right gable ends.
On the left side, there is a three-bay single-storey open-fronted store, with square stone columns dividing the bays. The right-hand bay is blocked and features a two-light wood casement with diagonal leaded panes. The other bays have double garage doors. The wash house on the left has two plank doors with segmental-headed surrounds, along with single-light and two-light double-chamfered stone-mullioned casements. An axial stack is present on the former wash house. The interiors have not been inspected.
