Description

The road bridge over Ampney Brook is a structure that carries the main village street and dates from the late 18th century to early 19th century. It is built from coursed and dressed stone, featuring angled coping and supported by four pointed breakwaters. The bridge has five small round arches and a parapet wall that stands about 1 meter high, with the ends curving back towards the brook at each corner, leading to square piers. The bridge is approximately 4.5 meters wide and 12 to 13 meters long. This site has been a bridge since the medieval period and remains intact as originally constructed.
