Description

Mill Cottage is a former mill-keeper's cottage constructed in several phases, with the main frontage likely dating to the late 16th or early 17th century, and an enlargement to the rear in the late 20th century. The cottage is built of rubble stone, with the lower right-hand section coursed, and has a stone slate roof and renewed stone stacks. It comprises a single front range with two large gables, and a rear range to the right. The cottage is two storeys high, with a blind attic. The left-hand gable features a blind two-light stone mullion with a dripmould in its apex, while the right-hand gable has a small, blind, rectangular light. The first floor has a two-light stone mullion with a square hoodmould and leaded iron casements on each side. A 20th-century three-light casement with a concrete lintel is located on the ground floor. A small, gabled porch, also of the 20th century, is centrally positioned. The right-hand return has a blind oval window in the apex and a two-light stone mullion with a square hoodmould to the first floor. A small, single-storey wing was added to the left in the 20th century.
