Description
Briarfurlong is a detached cottage dating from the mid-18th century. It is constructed of limestone rubble and features a stone slate roof with coursed squared and dressed stone stacks. The building has a rectangular plan that has been extended by one bay to the left in the 20th century, and there is also a 20th-century extension at the rear, which is not of special interest. The cottage is one and a half stories tall with a three-windowed facade. It includes one two-light stone-mullioned window and two two-light wooden casements, along with 20th-century French doors with horizontal glazing bars located off-centre to the right. The facade is adorned with three two-light slate-hung eaves dormers, and there are gable-end and axial stacks. The rear wall features linear buttressing.
Inside, the cottage retains beams with run-out and ogee stops, original roof trusses, and an open fireplace with a bressumer beam.
