Description
Thatch Cottage is a detached cottage dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century, with a 20th-century extension. It is constructed of limestone rubble, while the extension features squared and dressed artificial stone. The main body of the cottage has a thatched roof with decorative ridge thatching, and the extension has a stone slate roof. There is a roughly squared and dressed limestone stack and a brick stack. The building has a rectangular plan with a single-bay extension on the left gable end.
The cottage is one and a half storeys high and has a two-windowed facade. It features one two-light casement window with horizontal glazing bars and one single-light casement window, both of which date from the late 19th to early 20th century and have timber lintels. The central door is a 19th-century plank door with a timber lintel. On the right gable end, there is a two-light casement window on the ground floor, similar to those at the front, and another two-light casement window above with early leaded panes. A former gable entry has been blocked with boarding. The main body of the cottage has gable-end and lateral stacks, and the roof is half-hipped at the right gable end. The interior has not been inspected.
