Description
Blandford and an unidentified monument are located about 12 meters north of the northeast corner of the nave in the churchyard of the Church of St. Michael. There are two chest tombs: one for Charles Blandford, who died in 1746, and another unidentified tomb, which dates to 1796. Both tombs are made of limestone. The Blandford tomb features a flat top with a moulded plinth and capping, and it has quarter baluster corners. Its sides display a large central panel with inscriptions and flanking strips, along with relief drapery in strips on the south side. At the time of the survey in June 1985, it was noted to be in very bad condition. The unidentified tomb has rounded projecting ends with recessed panels, a fielded panel on the south side, and a cartouche with cherub heads on the north side, flanked by relief strips. The plinth of this tomb was also beginning to break up at the time of the survey.
