Description
This group of nine monuments is located in the churchyard approximately 4 meters south of the chancel of the Church of St. Mary. Dating from the mid to late 18th century, the group consists of four pedestal tombs and five headstones made of limestone.
The three pedestal tombs feature recessed inscription panels and moulded coping. They are inscribed to John Brindle, dated 1762 on the opposite side; Robert Brindle, who died in 1776; and Jonah Smith, who died in 1788. Another pedestal tomb has side panels flanked by reeded pilasters and is inscribed to Mercy Hinton, who died in 1800.
The five headstones include two located to the north and three to the south of the pedestal tombs, all of which display well-preserved carvings.
