Description
Kings Cottage is a cottage that includes an adjoining former coach house and stables to the south, along with a single-storey block to the west. The earliest part of the building likely dates from the mid-19th century, while the rest may be from the late 19th century or possibly the 1920s. The structure is built of coursed rubble stone with flush quoins and dressings. The single-storey section has a slate roof, while the remainder features a tile roof, which includes a stone stack with an offset and moulded cornice on the cottage and a hipped end on the stable.
The layout is 'U'-shaped. The single-storey section has three pairs of pointed Gothic leaded lights and two recessed half-glazed doors from the 20th century. Kings Cottage itself has paired 8-pane casements, with straight-headed windows on the first floor and cambered-headed windows on the ground floor. There are three segmental coach arches on the east range, along with two hipped dormers on a swept-down roof. The south range features two segmental arches, a central cambered-head three-light casement, and flanking cambered-head stable doors raised to the left due to a higher ground level, along with two hipped dormers. A mounting block is located next to the right-hand stable door. All arches have 20th-century doors fitted.
