Description
The Young monument is a pedestal tomb located in the churchyard approximately 6 meters south of the tower of the Church of St. John. It dates from the late 18th century or early 19th century and is made of sandstone with limestone ends. The ends feature square raised inscription panels with cross-fluting above, although the inscriptions are now illegible. The sides have projecting panels adorned with rosettes in the quadrant corners, and there is ribbon bow and floral decoration on the end returns. The tomb has a cavetto moulded top and a cyma moulded base, with a rectangular sub-base. The north side is inscribed to Thomas Young, who died in 1795, and Ann, his wife, who died in 1823; the south side is inscribed to Thomas Young, who died in 1808.
