SO 91 SE ELKSTONE ELKSTONE VILLAGE

3/118 Young monument iri the churchyard approximately 6m south of tower to Church of St. John

GV II

Pedestal tomb. Late C18 or early C19. Sandstone with limestone ends. Ends have square raised inscription panels with cross- fluting above; inscriptions illegible. Projecting panels on sides with rosettes in quadrant corners; ribbon bow and floral decoration on end returns. Cavetto moulded top and cyma moulded base with rectangular sub-base. Inscribed on north side to THOMAS YOUNG, died 1795, and ANN his wife, died 1823; and on south side to THOMAS YOUNG, died 1808.
