Description
No. 55 Long Street is a house in a terrace, dating from the late 17th century to early 18th century. It is constructed of rubble stone with quoins on a plinth and features a Cotswold stone slate roof with a low coped parapet and a stone end stack on the left side. The building is a single range with three storeys.
The front has two windows, each with three-light stone mullions that show traces of a continuous dripmould and curved relieving arches above. On the ground floor, there is a single four-light stone mullion window with a king mullion, which also has traces of a continuous dripmould. This window is cut into on the right by a plain cemented door reveal that contains a six-panel door. To the right of this door is the entrance to No. 53 Long Street, which has a similar surround and a door with six flush panels. On the left side, the plinth steps down as if for a doorway.
On the second floor, there are two three-light stone mullion windows with square hoodmoulds and some early leading. The remaining windows in the building are 19th-century casements.
