Description
This small barn, dating from the late 18th century, is located immediately east of Great Larkhill Farmhouse and is attached to farm buildings to the north, which are not of special interest. The barn is constructed of coursed rubble stone with alternating flush quoins and features a stone slate roof. It has opposed central gabled cart entries that include a segmental relieving arch, a timber lintel, and probably original double timber doors, along with a segmental arch on the wall plane. Each entry is flanked by two tiers of slit vents, which are also present on the gable ends, both of which have blocked square pitch holes. The barn consists of five bays and has king post trusses, two of which are reinforced with iron tie beams. At the time of the survey in April 1986, the barn was noted to be cracking badly.
