Description
Colpen Barn and the adjoining stable were built in the late 18th century. They are constructed from random limestone rubble with dressed stone quoins and feature a stone slate roof. The building has a rectangular plan with a projecting porch, which is flanked by lean-tos on the south side, and a stable block at the west gable end.
On the south front, there are double plank doors leading to the projecting porch, with another set of double plank doors directly opposite. There is a single-width doorway to the stable block, a fixed 20th-century casement window with a segmental brick head to the left, and a shuttered pitching window above the door. A blocked doorway, partially concealed by a lean-to extension, is located in the upper right. A stone step leads up to a plank door that accesses the loft on the north side. The gable ends are finished with flat coping.
Inside, the barn features five bays with original collar and tie beams, along with double purlins.
