Description

The Twelve Bells is a public house with an attached range of outbuildings, dating from the early to mid-18th century. It is constructed from coursed squared limestone rubble and features a stone slate roof, with an area of artificial slates on the right side. The left end stack has been rebuilt in brick, while there is a rear axial stack on the right.

The main range facing the street is two storeys high, with an attic and a cellar. It has two windows on the front. The first floor features two late 18th century or early 19th century 6/6-pane sash windows set in plain reveals with stone cills. On the ground floor, there are two 20th-century two-light timber windows in similar reveals. The building has two gabled dormers, each with 2-light timber casements. The central door has six raised-and-fielded panels and is set in a plain reveal.

The two-storey rear wing is also made of coursed squared limestone rubble and has a Welsh slate roof. On the right side, there is one 20th-century two-light metal casement window on both the ground and first floors, each with an exposed timber lintel. The single-storey wing has a stone slate roof and features one 19th-century two-light timber casement window in a plain reveal with an exposed timber lintel, along with a 3-light fixed window in a similar reveal at the far end. There are two further windows and two doors that have undergone 20th-century alterations. The interior has not been inspected.
