Description

Old Mill House and the former malt house at Donnington Brewery are now used as a store. The house dates from the early to mid-19th century, while the malt house was built in the 18th to 19th centuries and has some 20th-century alterations. The house is constructed of coursed squared and dressed limestone, with an artificial stone slate roof, an ashlar stack, and a brick stack. It has a rectangular plan, two storeys, and an attic that is lit by two 2-light roof dormers. The façade features three windows with 1, 2, and 3-light casements that have leaded panes. There is a fielded 6-panel door with upper glazed panels located off-centre to the left, and a raking canopy supported by wooden brackets above it. The gable ends have flat coping and stacks. The house displays three fire insurance plaques, one from Sun and two from Protection featuring a phoenix.

The malt house has a rectangular plan and includes a 20th-century projecting porch located off-centre to the right. It stands three storeys tall, with a plank door accessed by steps at the lower right. The first floor has a 2-light window set in a segmental-headed surround, while the second floor features 2-light windows. The front of the 20th-century porch has an almost flat-arched opening with a circular bull's eye window above. The malt house has a parallel ridge roof with five skylights, flat gable-end coping at the left end with a roll-cross saddle, a hipped gable end at the front right, and a pyramidal roof at the rear right where the former malting is located, topped with a square ventilation lantern that has wooden louvres and a weather vane. The interior has not been inspected.
