Description
Elm Villa is a detached house dated and initialled 'R.E. / 1844' on an oval date plaque. It is constructed from coursed squared and dressed limestone, featuring a slate roof and ashlar stacks, and has a rectangular plan. There are 20th-century extensions at right angles at the rear that are not of special interest. The symmetrical three-windowed facade is lit by 12-pane sash windows. A central 19th-century five-panelled door, with the upper panel glazed, is set within a latticework porch that has a curving canopy. The gable ends have flat coping and moulded kneelers, with gable-end stacks topped by unusually tall chimney pots. At the front of the house, a cast iron railing and gate on a low ashlar wall, approximately 10 meters long, form part of the boundary. The railing and gate may have been produced in a nearby smithy. The interior has not been inspected.
