Description
The Manor is a large house located in Coln St Dennis, originally built in the 17th century, with extensions added in 1861 and significant alterations made in the 20th century. The structure is constructed from limestone rubble with dressed stone quoins and features a stone slate roof along with ashlar and rubble chimney stacks.
The main body of the house, which is rectangular and situated on the south side, has been substantially altered. There is a slightly later extension at the rear right, facing the road, along with a 19th-century extension at its gable end. A large 20th-century extension is positioned at right angles to the main body at the rear left.
On the south front of the main body, there are 2 and 4-light steel casements with leaded panels, and three 20th-century two-light dormers that are slate-hung. The east gable end, which faces the road, features a 4-light stone-mullioned casement with a king mullion and a hood on the ground floor, as well as 3-light and 2-light stone-mullioned casements above, with stopped hoods (the latter having hollow chamfers). The roadside front includes two and three-light double-chamfered stone-mullioned casements, with a 17th-century extension to the right and a single 2-light slate-hung roof dormer.
The 19th-century extension has a 20th-century door with fillets set within an almost flat roll-moulded Tudor-arched surround, which is likely partly reused from earlier structures. To the right of the door, there is a 20th-century three-light casement with a stopped hood. The house has two axial stacks with twin diagonal shafts and moulded cappings, decorated with metope below, and a 20th-century stack shaped like a quatrefoil. The gable ends are adorned with 'dragons tail' finials. The interior of the house is not accessible.
