Description

Town Bridge is a road bridge that carries the A417 over the River Coln. There has been a bridge at this site since the late 12th century, and this structure likely dates from the 18th century. It is built of ashlar and features two round arches with evenly spaced stone voussoirs and a single pointed breakwater. There is a plat band at the base of the parapet wall, which is flat-coped and approximately 1 meter high. The bridge has square end piers at the west end. At the east end, it connects to the wall of Fairford House on the north side and terminates at the end of the plat band on the south side.
