Description
Upper Rye Farmhouse is a farmhouse located on the Sezincote Estate, dating from the late 18th century with a 19th-century extension. It is constructed from coursed squared and dressed limestone, featuring an ashlar stack and artificial stone stacks. The original layout was likely L-shaped, with a gable end extending forward on the right side. The 19th-century extension created a T-shaped plan, while a 20th-century single-storey extension in the right-hand angle is not of special interest.
The garden front of the farmhouse has two storeys and an attic, which are illuminated by 2-light metal casements. The main body has two windows, featuring 2 and 3-light double chamfered stone-mullioned casements with horizontal glazing bars. There is a part-glazed plank door located at the lower right of the main body. The left gable end has a stack, and there are axial and eaves stacks on the 19th-century extension, all topped with moulded caps. The dormers have hipped roofs. The interior has not been inspected.
