Description
46 New Road is a detached house, historically referred to as Keeper's Cottage, dating from the 18th century. The building is constructed from large blocks of random squared and dressed limestone, topped with a concrete tile roof. It features one ashlar stack and one rendered stack. The house has a basically rectangular plan, with a 20th-century extension at right angles to the rear, which is not of special interest.
The structure is 1 and a half storeys high and has a symmetrical facade with two windows. The main body of the house has two gablets and two three-light wooden casements on the ground floor, along with two two-light casements in the gablets above. An early plank door is located off-centre to the right, sheltered by a gabled 19th-century porch. There is also a two-light casement and a plank door set back slightly to the left of the main body. The gable ends feature stacks. The interior has not been inspected. This property is part of the Stowell Park Estate.
