Description
Stow Baptist Chapel, dated 1852, is located on the south side of Sheep Street. The building is constructed of rubble with ashlar quoins and dressings, topped by a hipped Welsh slate roof that features wide eaves. It has round-headed windows with small pane cast-iron glazing, raised surrounds, keys, and imposts; there are two windows at the front and three on the sides. The central entrance consists of a two-leaf door with a fanlight above. Inside, there is a gallery over the entrance with a pierced parapet. A lower single-storey meeting hall, which is a contemporary extension to the south, has four windows and also features a hipped slate roof with a three-window lobby at the west end. The chapel is accessed via an entry in Sheep Street, located to the right of Jasmine Cottage.
