Description
The Old Bank (Midland Bank) and the adjoining house were built around 1840, but the date 1878 is inscribed above the door, likely marking when it began operating as a bank. The building is constructed of ashlar stone and features a hipped Welsh slate roof. There are decorative bands at each floor level. It stands three storeys tall and has four sash windows with glazing bars. The corner facing Bourton Road is rounded and includes one window on the return. The bank's frontage, which is probably from 1878, has three large elliptically headed windows without glazing bars, each adorned with keystones and a cornice above. The doorway on the corner has a vermiculated surround, leading to a six-panel door topped with a rectangular fanlight. The building also has deep eaves and ashlar chimney stacks.
