Description
The Redesdale Arms Hotel is a late 18th-century building located on the west side of High Street in Moreton-in-the-Marsh. The hotel features a nearly symmetrical three-part frontage constructed of rubble with a slate roof, which has moulded eaves and coped verges, and is topped with four ridge chimneys. The facade includes two sets of paired windows on the first floor, separated by a stone mullion, and the ground floor windows, except for those in the right-hand section, are adorned with moulded architraves. A Doric portico with slender columns is found on the left side, above which is a large carved heraldic panel. The right-hand section previously had a segment-headed coach entry, which now serves as the entrance to the bars. At the rear, two long ranges extend westward, forming a courtyard with stepped-down roofs, and there is a small piece of 19th-century timber framing on the first floor to the south. Inside, the "Archery Bar" features attractive 18th-century panelling that has been imported.
