Description
Sycamore Cottage is a detached house located on a corner in Northleach, dating from the 17th century with later extensions. The building is constructed of coursed squared and dressed limestone, featuring large dressed stone quoins and a stone slate roof with ashlar stacks. It has an 'L'-shaped plan and includes 20th-century lean-to extensions at the rear, which are not of special interest.
The facade is symmetrical with twin gables and is two-storeys high with an attic. The gables are illuminated by 2-light double-chamfered stone-mullioned casements that have stopped hoods. The second floor features two 3-light stone-mullioned casements, also with stopped hoods. On the ground floor, there are two 16-pane sash windows with horns and concrete lintels. The central entrance consists of a part-glazed front door set within a dressed stone surround that includes a keystone, topped by a flat canopy supported by wooden brackets. The gable ends have stacks, one of which has a moulded capping. The interior has not been inspected.
