Description

The Hipsley Monument is a chest tomb located about 3 meters west of the Yeatman Monument in the churchyard of the Church of St. Lawrence. It commemorates Thomas Hipsley, who died in 1834. The tomb is made of limestone and features a moulded plinth and capping on a tall two-step base. It has a plain frieze with occasional roundels and a two-step tent top. The ends are plain, with an incised rectangular panel that has a projecting semi-circular section at the top. The side panels are fielded and have flanking fluted strips.
