8/182 Barn c50m north of The Manor House GV II

Barn. C17. Limestone rubble, corrugated-iron roof to barn, concrete tile roof to extension. Cross shaped plan with projecting porches on north and south towards west end. Late C19-C20 farm buildings attached to barn on south not of special interest. Small extension at east gable end. Projecting porch on north reduced in height with raking roof, ventilation slit and two blocked doors left, former gabled pitching window right. Projecting gabled porch on south with weather-boarded gable and single width door in right- hand wall. Early plank door with timber lintel towards east gable end. Ventilation slits in gable ends. Interior; 8 bays; one complete upper cruck truss with queen struts from collar to junction of collar and principal rafter. Two further cruck trusses (now truncated at bottom) flanking porch bay. Other trusses east of entrance bay; 2 collar beams with queen struts from lower collar. Trusses west of entrance bay; 2 trusses with tie beam and 2 collars.
