Description

East Court is a house, dating to 1805-11, later converted to flats around 1994. It is constructed of stucco over brick, with a hipped slate roof and rendered stacks. The building follows a double pile plan with a central entrance. The exterior features two storeys and five first-floor windows, with a later extension to the rear. A wide, projecting loggia is a prominent feature on the ground floor, incorporating four Ionic columns and a frieze with round-arched openings at the ends. The ground floor has an eight-fielded-panel door flanked by sidelights and an overlight. The windows are 6/6 sash windows in plain reveals with sills. A low parapet tops the facade. The interior, as noted in a 1983 survey, boasts enriched cornices, reeded doorcases with ornamental corners to the principal ground floor rooms, and a stone staircase with wrought-iron balusters. The building is situated within a group that includes the East Court boundary wall and East End Road.
