Description
The Close (Number 324) is a public house, later converted into a house and now flats, built around 1827 as a public house for the Lovesays, with subsequent additions and alterations. The building is rendered over brick and has a hipped slate roof and an iron porch. The exterior is two storeys with a basement, spanning four bays with a window arrangement of 3:1:3:1, and includes a further single-storey, single-bay section to the right. Full-height canted bays are positioned on either side of the entrance. The windows are 6/6 sashes set in plain reveals with sills. A four-step approach leads to a six-fielded-panel door, featuring side-lights and a continuous overlight with decorative glazing, all set in plain reveals. A wide trellis porch is present, with a lyre motif to its frieze. The interior features six-panel doors within fluted architraves, and a staircase with fluted column-and-rod balusters and a wreathed handrail.
