Description

Burford Lodge is a house, dating to circa 1823, originally built as one of a group of villas in Montpellier Parade, Cheltenham, and later converted into flats. It is constructed of stucco over brick, with concealed roof space and end stacks. The three-storey facade has three windows to the first floor. The central section slightly projects, featuring pilaster strips, a band at first floor level, and architrave, frieze and cornice detailing, topped with a blocking course accentuated with a decorative C-scroll motif at the ends and centre. The windows are 1/1 sashes. A 20th-century glazed porch now fronts the central entrance, with two replacement doors. A wing set back to the right return retains an 8/8 sash window. Some original 8/8 sash windows remain on the rear elevation. The interior has not been inspected. Attached garden walls flank the property; coped walls ramp down from ground floor level and incorporate a round-arched recessed doorway with a plank door.
