Description
Gas Green Baptist Church is a Nonconformist Chapel built around 1836 for the Primitive Methodists. The building features stucco over brick with ashlar dressings and has a concealed roof. It is two storeys high and has a façade with three windows. The plain gable front is accented by bands over the ground and first floors and a coped verge. The windows are arranged in two tiers, separated by a plat band; the first-floor windows are arched with Y-tracery, while the ground floor has flat arches with voussoirs and round arches above. All windows have plain reveals and sills. The central doorway is arched and has 20th-century doors with a blind fanlight above. The five-bay return features mainly 6/6 sash windows on the first floor, with other openings being blind. The interior has not been inspected. This church is a notable example of nonconformist architecture located outside the town centre.
