Description

This is a large detached house, dating from the early to mid-19th century, which has been converted into flats. The house is constructed of brick, now rendered and painted, with a slate roof and rendered stacks. It has a roughly rectangular plan and stands three storeys high, plus a basement. The front facade is symmetrical, with three windows. The ground-floor windows are tripartite sashes with two panes to each sash, set within decorative surrounds that project from the rest of the facade. Pilasters flank each window, topped by a plain entablature with pendants. Flat-chamfered quoins are positioned on either side of the windows. The upper floors feature sashes with horizontal glazing bars, all with moulded and lugged architraves. Wide pilasters link the moulded cornices above the ground and first-floor windows. The upper floor has six-pane sashes. A moulded cornice with console brackets runs along the top of the facade. A central, flat-roofed porch projects from the front, featuring a round-headed entrance arch with a keystone carved with a lion's head and a pierced parapet displaying a crown of laurels at its centre. Decorative wrought-iron flower boxes are situated below the ground-floor windows on the right-hand return, and a band of spiral wrought-iron flowers decorates the eaves of the same return. The interior has not been inspected. Stone balustrade, featuring decorative urns at intervals, runs along the right-hand boundary of the property.
