Description

This is a probable 17th-century barn, with an 18th-century extension and a 19th-century granary building at the south-east end. It’s located approximately 20 metres south of Ham Court in Charlton Kings. The barn has been converted into two houses around 1980. The structure is timber-framed with brick and plaster infill, set on a Cotswold stone plinth, and with brickwork to the south-east. Parts of the roof are covered with stone tiles, half-hipped to the south, with some renewal tiles and an undulating ridge. The timber-framed section has threshing openings, some now glazed, and an inserted entrance to the right, alongside small casements. Inside this section, the rafters, collar-and-tie-beam trusses, and two levels of purlins remain exposed. A timber-framed interior wall is also present. The buildings form a group and are an integral part of the setting for Ham Court.
