Description
Town Farm and Town Farm Cottage is a farmhouse and cottage that was originally one house, dating from the 17th century and altered in the 20th century. The building features rendered cob walls and a gable-ended thatched roof, with three brick stacks—two axial and one at the right-hand end. The original plan included three rooms with a through passage, with the lower end to the right. There is a large wing at the front of the inner room, likely added in the late 17th century.
The exterior is two storeys high with an asymmetrical two-window front, featuring mid-20th century metal frame casements with three lights. A part-glazed door is located at the center, and there is a lower one-window addition at the right-hand end. The large wing on the left end has a 20th-century casement on the end wall at each floor and a part-glazed door to their right. Inside, a few roughly chamfered ceiling beams are visible, but most other features have been concealed by the modernisation in the mid-20th century. This house occupies a prominent position in the center of the village.
