Description

Honeytor Farmhouse is a mine captain's house for Wheal Emma, dating from around 1870 with later alterations. The building is constructed of rubble with a slate-hung hipped slate roof and rendered stacks on the sides. It has a double depth plan formed by two parallel ranges, with an additional section added to the rear left. The house is symmetrical with two storeys and features three windows, all of which are 16-pane sashes set in plain reveals.

The central entrance is accentuated by a slate-hung gabled porch that includes a half-glazed door framed by a moulded, round-headed surround with a plain fanlight and imposts, along with 4-pane sidelights. To the left, there is a 1½-storey addition that has a 20th-century ground floor window and a raking dormer, rendered with a side door.

The rear of the house includes a two-storey block that is slate-hung on the left side, featuring a hipped roof and a stack on the outer side. The right return has a 6-pane light at the ground floor left, while the ground and first floors in the rear range have a 20th-century window, all rendered. The rear section of the house has two storeys and a basement, which is not rendered and features later 19th-century brick dressings around the windows. The right side has a 16-pane sash on both the ground and first floors, and the ground floor includes a two-storey addition with a pitched roof, two 20th-century lights under the eaves, and a side door. The rear of the main house has a two-light casement with a cambered head to the right at ground floor, while the first floor to the left of the addition has a blocked window, a 6-pane light, and two two-light casements. The interior has not been inspected.
