Description

Jasmine Cottage is a house dating from the mid to late 17th century, significantly modernised in the 20th century. It is constructed of rendered cob and rubble walls with a thatched, gable-ended roof and two brick end stacks. The original plan comprised two rooms with a central passage, the room to the left being larger. The front of the house has an asymmetrical arrangement with four windows. These are modern 20th-century casements with diamond-leaded panes, some with wooden shutters. A 20th-century part-glazed door is located to the right of centre, sheltered by a thatch doorhood. Inside, the fireplace in the left-hand room features a chamfered wooden lintel and a large clay oven on the right-hand side. The roof also reveals substantial axial chamfered beams with straight-cut stops, although the roof timbers themselves were replaced in the 20th century.
