Description
Lloyds Bank, located at 1 Bedford Square, is an elaborate Art Nouveau corner building dated 1909. It is constructed from Hurdwick stone coursed rubble with Bath stone dressings and features a slate roof with a curved corner topped by a metal finial. The building has a cornice with ovolo moulding and a gable that includes an oriel window. The front elevation showcases three mullioned or mullioned and transomed windows on the first floor, along with a granite pilastered ground floor. The corner features a curved window with Ionic half columns supporting the second-floor windows, while the first floor is also adorned with pilasters and Ionic half columns. The elevation facing Drake Road has two gables with oriels beneath and three additional windows. This listing includes Nos 3, 3a, and 4 Drake Road.
