Description
This barn, located about 20 meters north of Leigh Farmhouse, is likely from the 18th century. It is constructed partly of stone rubble and partly of cob on stone rubble footings, and it was formerly plastered. The barn has a slate roof that is hipped at both ends. The right end is a single storey, while the left end has a loft. There are lean-tos at the left end and on the front at the right. A large entrance is located on the front to the left of the lean-to, featuring shallow cheeks and a corrugated iron canopy supported by brackets. Additionally, there are two further entrances on the front at the left, both under timber lintels, and one loft entrance. A straight joint in the masonry and the use of cob at the left end suggest that there has been an extension or rebuilding. Inside, the barn features pegged roof trusses.
