Description
Pattiland Farmhouse is a small farmhouse dating from the late 17th century. It features rendered cob walls and a thatched roof, which is hipped at the left end and gabled at the right. There is a rendered brick stack at the right gable end, which was rebuilt in the late 20th century. The farmhouse has a two-room plan with a central passage; the kitchen/living room is located to the right and is heated by the gable end stack, while the unheated service room is to the left. A 19th-century lean-to has been added at the rear and on the left-hand end, which is two storeys high. The front of the building is asymmetrical with two windows, featuring 20th-century two and three-light casements, with the right-hand ground floor window lacking glazing bars. A 20th-century plank door is situated at the centre. The lean-to against the left-hand end also has a plank door at the front, and there is a 19th-century outshut at the rear. Inside, the right-hand room has a substantial roughly chamfered cross beam and exposed joists, along with an open fireplace that has been plastered over and an oven on the left side.
