Description

These gate posts, built between 1899 and 1905 by Thomas Mawson, are located adjacent to the north-west of the woodsheds at Wood House. They are made of granite ashlar and serve as a boundary between the rear drive and the service courtyard. The posts are square in section and feature projecting pilasters on each side, with the inner faces of the pilasters not extending to full height and having scroll-headed designs. The base and flat top of the posts are moulded. These gate posts are part of a larger landscaping scheme designed by Mawson to complement the rebuilding of Wood House.
