Description

Tower House is a large house, now used as offices, built in the mid-19th century. It features solid rendered walls and has a roof that is not visible from the street. The building stands three storeys high with a high semi-basement and includes a four-storeyed Italianate tower at the south end. The house is positioned to block off almost the entire west end of the street.

The main front, facing east, has a three-window range with a large canted bay that projects from the right gable wall. Most of the ground storey is occupied by a glazed porch supported by Doric pilasters and topped with a bracketed cornice, which is accessed by a balustraded flight of steps. Above the porch, on the second storey, there is a three-light window flanked by panelled pilasters and a cornice resting on four consoles, which leads into a shallow segmental pediment over the centre.

The tower features a similar single-light window with a triangular pediment on the second storey. The top storey of the tower has three narrow round-arched windows, and above them is an oval unglazed opening with triple keystones at both the top and sides. The building has a bracketed eaves cornice and a low pyramidal roof. The bay window to the right includes windows with moulded architraves in both the ground and second storeys, with the second storey windows being round-arched and also featuring triple keystones. The interior has not been inspected.
